Summary

Lafayette Physical Rehabilitation Hospital seeks a Full-Time Director of Quality/Infection Control.  This position requires responsibility for planning and implementing the performance improvement program to meet the needs of the hospital.  It also provides education to medical staff, hospital staff and the Governing Body, as well as facilitates performance improvement activities and CQI activities throughout the hospital.  This department is also to be used as a resource person to the administrative team, department managers and medical staff.  Responsible for all regulatory body surveys including State Licensing Review and CMS Validation surveys.  Responsible for risk evaluation and coordination of corrective action implementation related to risk issues.  Provide intervention and education related to risk management issues to promote safe work practices and quality care and services in an environment that is beneficial to the safety, health and well being of all patients, visitors and hospital staff.  Coordinates risk programs with all hospital departments, administration and the legal risk manager.  Report real and potential risk situations to the Governing Body, medical staff, administration, hospital departments and committees, as appropriate.  Responsible for establishing and monitoring methods to avoid, eliminate and/or reduce risk situations associated with the provision of patient care and services.

The Quality/Infection Control Director is a qualified individual with knowledge of CDC guidelines and definitions of healthcare associated infections (HAIs), federal and state regulations.  He/She is responsible for the identification, investigation, reporting, prevention and control of healthcare associated infections (HAIs) among patients and personnel.  By authority of the Infection Control Committee, she/he may institute collection of cultures and initiate appropriate isolation precautions.  She/He is responsible for assisting with in-service programs related to infection prevention and control.  Concerning Employee Health, he/she is responsible for attending to all employee work related injuries and recommending appropriate action, as well as communicating with the risk manager any trends in the workplace.

Job Requirements

  • Current RN, LPN or RT Louisiana clinical licensure required
  • 1-3 years experience in Quality Improvement or Risk Management
  • Minimum three (3) year experience in a supervisory position in healthcare or one (1) to three (3) years in infection control.
  • 3 or more years experience in acute care setting.
  • Member of the Association of Practitioners of Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).
  • Working knowledge of microbiology, Epidemiology, infectious diseases, aseptic techniques and current practices.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • A minimum of one-year experience in utilization review.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
