The Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ) is the nation’s newest accreditation provider approved by CMS to deem acute care hospitals as meeting Medicare Conditions of Participation.

Our program strives to ensure that patients receive care in organizations that exceed minimum standards set forth by the federal government.

CIHQ is committed to helping hospitals improve the quality of care rendered in their community by providing the tools and support they need in a collegial, respectful, educational, and cost-effective manner.

Filing a Patient Care Complaint

Organizations using CIHQ accreditation for deemed-status purposes must inform patients, or their surrogate decision-maker, of the right to file complaints regarding quality of care concerns or safety issues to CIHQ. The patient / surrogate decision maker is not required to notify the organization prior to filing the complaint.
