Reducing Readmissions and Bettering Our Community with Extended Critical Illness Recovery Treatments

When any person enters a hospital in critical condition, everyone is hoping the patient makes a swift recovery, but healthcare professionals like you know that recovery from a critical condition usually isn’t complete at discharge.

Most hospitals and case managers discharge some of these patients to a lower-level of care, but in many cases, patients actually need the same, ICU-like treatments which they are leaving. Without this intensity of services, patients’ conditions deteriorate, readmissions to short-term acute care hospitals (STACHs) occur, and the patients’ recoveries are derailed.

At AMG Specialty Hospital – Central Indiana (Hancock Campus), we help patients who need longer-term, more intensive treatments. These critical illness recovery hospitals (officially known as Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals) are uniquely suited to not only care for patients with complex medical conditions, but also to provide the rehabilitation they need to get back to the life they love and regain their independence.

With low nurse-to-patient ratios, the same level of care as an STACH intensive care unit, and daily access to specialists, critical illness recovery hospital patients are less likely to require readmission than SNF patients.

We’re a Top-5 Post Acute Care Hospital System for a Reason

AMG Specialty Hospital – Central Indiana (Hancock Campus) is proud and honored to be a part of a Top-5 Post-Acute Care Hospital System. We achieved this rank because we’re focused on our patients’ futures rather than their present situations.

At AMG Specialty Hospital – Central Indiana (Hancock Campus), treatment plans are designed for each individual patient to maximize their recovery while reducing the time it takes to get there. We reduce readmission rates for patients that might otherwise find themselves in and out of a traditional hospital, and we give them the best chance at a speedy recovery.
